5 Super Bowl Snacks for Kids to Enjoy

Ham and Cheese Tater Tot Skewers

  • Deli ham
  • Cheddar Cubes
  • Frozen Tater Tots
  • Skewers

Fill those little bellies with this kid-version of the classic Super Bowl food: shish kabobs. Arrange ham (or any deli meat of your choice) on a skewer, alternating cooked tater tots and a cube of cheese. On an average skewer, you can fit four tater tots, three cubes of cheese, and three slices of meat.

If you’re not afraid of a little (okay, a lot of a) mess, melt queso cheese in a skillet just before game time and drizzle over each skewer, or leave a dish full of nacho cheese for tasty dipping.

Parmesan and Spinach Bread Twists

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • Baby spinach
  • Grated Parmesan
  • 1 egg, beaten

Sneak some healthy greens into your little guests’ diet with these savory breadsticks. Place the puff pastry on a floured surface and carefully unfold (or roll it out with a rolling pin until it is about 1/8″ inch thick).

Slice the pastry sheet in half, then slice each half into five equal-sized strips (so you have 10 strips).

Add a few leaves of baby spinach and some grated Parmesan to one strip at a time and fold over in half to seal in the spinach and Parmesan. Holding each end, carefully twist and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

When you have completed the latter with all ten strips, place the baking tray in the fridge for about ten minutes, then brush with egg wash.

Place in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F and bake until golden. Ingredients will yield about ten breadsticks.

Fruit Leather

  • 2 C strawberries/blueberries chopped
  • 1 C applesauce
  • Parchment paper

In the spirit of the day that honors pigskin, feed the kiddos some leather of your own. With only two ingredients (literally!), this fruit roll-up recipe is super simple to make ahead. It’s a sweet, healthy treat little ones will love.

Preheat the oven to 175 degrees F. Chop up the fruit and blend together with applesauce in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and spread the mixture evenly. Bake for four hours, or until the fruit leather is no longer sticky. Allow the mixture to cool before cutting into strips, then roll it up using parchment paper.

Apple Nachos

  • 2 large apples
  • 2 Tbs jelly
  • 2 Tbs peanut butter, melted
  • Chia seeds

Add some crunch to the cliché peanut butter and jelly “sandwich” by substituting the bread for apple slices! Cut apple(s) into thin slices or rounds and arrange on a plate. Top with melted peanut butter and jelly and sprinkle with chia seeds or nuts.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Croissants

  • 1 tube of crescent rolls
  • Peanut Butter
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Finish Game Day with a sweet treat of peanut butter and chocolate. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll the tube of Crescent Rolls onto a baking sheet, spreading peanut butter on each roll. Next, sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips and roll each crescent starting with the bottom of the triangle point. Bake for 11 minutes, or until golden.

Whatever foods you entertain with, enjoy Game Day (or the commercials) with your favorite people… and their little ones!
